Multi-source Demand Forecasting (MDF)

This project connects with the topsector HTSM & ICT, theme ‘Big Data’. Specifically this project aims at ICT and its role in improving productivity in the airline industry and the topsector ‘Logistics’. During this project a forecasting system will be developed that can predict the demand for airline tickets on different routes and at specific times based on data sources other than just historical data. The end result is an analytics layer that can recommend noteworthy flights to revenue and marketing managers at low-cost carrier (LCC) airlines with the aim to increase airplane load factors, airline profitability, and thereby reducing number of flights and CO2 emissions per passenger kilometre.
