Development of an Automated Venipuncture Device with Sample Integrity Measurement

In this project, RR Mechatronics and Vitestro are taking the revolutionary step in laboratory medicine by innovating the venipuncture process and analyzing the blood sample integrity directly after collection. This should lead to less in vitro hemolysis, the principal cause of avoidable pre-analytical errors in blood testing. In addition, this facilitates timely recognition of in vitro hemolysis, which prevents crucial delays in patient treatment. Within this R&D project, Vitestro will develop an innovative venipuncture device, while RR Mechatronics will develop an innovative pre-analytical filter test that will run on the device and that is able to determine the Hemolytic index of a blood sample before it will actually be transported to the laboratory.
