The modular and fair 5G smartphone industrialization feasibility

5G might be a potential breakthrough that keeps mobile devices fresh and functional over the years. As a very innovative technology, 5G could bring the customer the power to overcome the challenges of the future, in which the speed of access is playing a fundamental role, especially in those areas where the fast access to the Internet is not possible yet. Fairphone is a Dutch provider of modular and durable mobile telephones, which is unique in the world. Notwithstanding the ease of use for the final consumer, 5G requires a conspicuous technological effort to make it stable and compatible with the diversity of mobile networks throughout the world. The biggest challenge is to take into account the complexity of 5G spectrum, which is wider than the spectrum used by 4G technology; the target of the following research is to explore that complexity, considering the applicable markets, and understand if Fairphone is capable of bringing such complicated technology into a modular phone.
