Regio Zuid-Holland | ForeCROWD

The activities include the technical and economic validation of the foreCrowds platform, a service that can forecast crowd movements 15 minutes to 1 day into the future. Up to this moment, very little forecasting techniques have been developed that predict crowd flows for a long time period ahead. Moreover, most contemporary state estimation methods apply demanding pre-processing steps. The objective of this feasibility study is to validate a data-driven procedure, which can predict in real-time crowd movement from multiple datasources. The foreCrowds platform will include automated forecasting algorithms of pedestrian crowds in specified area’s using multiple (open) sources of data. This solution is now especially important with the corona pandemic and with the step-by-step lifting of lockdown measures during which overcrowding and keeping distance is of utmost importance.
