Regio Noord | A novel approach for the phenotype characterization of neurological pediatric movement disorders

Our goal is to develop a novel product to diagnose neurological movement disorders in pediatric patients (PMD). Our method is based on eye-tracking devices operated by our proprietary AI-based software for data evaluation. Our method offers several advantages with respect to traditional techniques: it is completely non-invasive, objective, and patient-friendly. With our technology, we aim (i) to establish amongst clinicians a universally recognized procedure to objectively diagnose PMD; (ii) to improve the accuracy with respect to traditional techniques; and (iii) to enable targeted treatment (personalized medicine). This will have a significant positive impact on the lives of children affected by PMD as the correct diagnosis (with phenotype characterization) plays a crucial role in defining the treatment path...The main activities will be:..WP1 - Mapping the current clinical approaches for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric movement disorders (PMD)..WP2 - Evaluation of commercial viability..WP3 - Intellectual property search..WP4 - Pilot study data collection..WP5 - Development of PMD-specific eye movement analysis pipeline..
