Sabiad Proof of concept

Staphylococcuc aureus (SA) is a bacterium that can infect an implanted prothesis in the hip and knee, which may cause major damage. This occurs in a small percentage, but is indistinguishable from ordinary inflamation. As a result, the standard of care is to apply antibiotics at any sign of inflammation, which occurs in 80% of patients. Sabiad owns patents for a unique, 1D9 antibody that binds to SA. These can be combined with detection agents to form a tracer which can be detected using infrared. As such, the tracer can be injected in patients, wich allows clinicians to dstinguish SA-infections from ordinary inflammation.
